Around this time two years ago, I stopped by an event that had a special guest speaker. I wasn’t officially invited but came by to see a friend, and ended up sitting next to a woman who asked me what I was doing for work.
I told her I was fresh off finishing one jump, playing the pro squash tour, and preparing to start another one…all while currently crashing on a buddy’s couch.
The woman asked about my new jump and I told her about the community I wanted to create, and even reached into my flattened, stained backpack I had with me to share early interview drafts and website graphics behind the idea. When the woman suggested I use video to tell the stories of individuals making jumps, I pointed out that while I’d like to use video, I was a bit resource constrained, operating very bootstrapped while still on my buddy’s couch.
The woman smiled and told me we could work together on the video piece. And that’s how I first met Arianna Huffington; two years later she is our guest on the second episode of the When to Jump podcast that aired last Tuesday.
In the past two years, Arianna has been an enthusiastic supporter of When to Jump - starting with a media partnership we ran with HuffPost last year that reached millions worldwide. Arianna has since jumped herself, leaving HuffPost to start Thrive Global, and we dig into all this on the podcast.
Listen here, and if you like it, would love for you to subscribe, review, and share it with any friends or others who may like it. Apple iTunes has named the When to Jump podcast a top 10 business podcast, and our whole team is excited to see how it evolves from here.
Arianna has read an advanced copy of When to Jump: If the Job You Have Isn’t the Life You Want and offered an advanced review of the book, below. Sixty days til it’s officially out!
