PODCAST GuIDELINES

When To Jump Podcasts

Thank you for agreeing to serve as a guest for the When to Jump podcast! On this page, we’ll give you the quick scoop for what you’ll need to know before, during, and after the recording.

Interview Prep

1) Decide on how you will record
  • Option 1 (preferred): Your own recorder with a mic (if you have one).
  • Option 2: Record yourself on a computer using Audacity.
    Step-by-step instructions can be downloaded
    here.
  • Option 3: Record yourself on your phone voice memos. iPhone instructions can be downloaded here and there are plenty of free apps for Android that we can recommend if needed.
2) Share Assets
Complete this form to share your headshot, bio, and other assets with our marketing team, so we can prepare to promote your episode.
3) Upload Audio File
After recording the interview you’ll upload your recorded audio file to this folder

During the Interview

  • Make sure whatever mic you use doesn't rub against or move on any fabrics or surfaces—you may not hear it but the mic sure does.
  • Please don't wear any dangle-y, noisey, or otherwise loud jewelry
  • Be aware of loud cars/sirens/crying babies/crying adults/dogs/etc. that may be in your space. If you hear them, the recorder will hear them. Move to the quietest location possible. We want to be sure we can hear you—speak slowly, clearly and naturally.
  • Afterward, upload your recorded audio file to this folder and our producers will grab it!

Interview Best Practices

Our best podcast episodes comes from authentic, unscripted conversations with our guests. With that in mind, a few things to think about before you come on:

If you’ve taken a jump, retracing your steps in the experience to reflect on:
  • The hardest parts
  • Your biggest fears
  • What surprised you the most from the experience
  • What you wish you knew at the time
  • Your most valuable learnings

Our audience consists of folks who want to take jumps of all types, and most listeners are seeking real guidance, tips, and how-to’s. Without being too self-help-y or prescriptive, we’d love for you to come prepared to share:
  • One nugget of wisdom you’d like to leave with listeners
  • A real, tangible trick or tip anyone could use to get closer to making his/her jump (it can be big or as small - even the tiniest of tricks is still helpful!)
  • What advice you would give others who are thinking of taking a jump

Bottom line: be relaxed and be yourself, and we’ll have a hit episode on our hands.

Interview Release

The success and popularity of an episode depends largely on sharing it across our combined communities. On the day the interview releases, please share the podcast link across your social channels (and your company’s, if applicable). Here’s some info and details you can use in your posts:
