This week we’re talking bullsh*t. We want you to take a look at your life and decide what should stay and what should go. Thanks to the inspiration from our friend and this week’s When to Jump Podcast guest, Mark Manson, we are challenging ourselves and this community to take a step back and possibly take a leap. This is your reminder that you truly have only one life and you can do anything with it Shouts out to…
Kathleen in San Francisco whose series of jumps began after a she chose to walk away from a long unfulfilled career in finance and create Sweat Club Houston. Unbeknownst to Kathleen this became her teaching ground for untapped creativity in branding, engagement, and negotiations and lead to what we’d like to call serial jumping. Not long after the creation of Sweat Club Houston Kathleen left her hometown to move to the city of Boston with her partner and unfortunately found herself without a path to follow. In October of 2018, a trifecta of disheartening events hit Kathleen within two weeks of each other. There’s a quote from Forbes she shares, “When you realize you don’t have anything else to lose, that’s when you realize your full potential.” Kathleen decided to leave the finance world once again and set her sights on Salesforce or Amazon. After many applications and rejections, she finally received an offer to work at Salesforce HQ in San Francisco. “I took a bet on myself and went in full steam ahead.” Congratulations on persevering through and landing the job you dreamt and worked tirelessly for. Another shout out to Christi in Texas who thought the world was over after having lost her job of 13 years. In the midst of the chaos, Christi decided to look at what she really wanted to do, not what she was good at doing. Christi found freedom in her new career of coaching and now has the time to enjoy the little things. “While it's easy to monetize our jobs, we rarely think about what we've given up along the way. And what I've gotten back is me. I have time - time to read, be quiet, take walks, organize, cook and spend quality time with the ones I love!” Congratulations on returning to yourself Christi, we’re happy to hear you’re happy. On the podcast… Mark Manson is an OG super blogger turned best-selling author. His international smash hit, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck, has inspired a generation of no f*cks given. His writing is often described as ‘self-help for people who hate self-help’ — a no-BS brand of life advice and cultural commentary that has struck a chord with people around the globe. Although it may not seem like it, Mark’s journey was anything but a straight line. From music school to a short stint in the financial world, Mark struggled to find his passion that he felt he could turn into a meaningful career. He shares what gave him the confidence to finally jump into what triggered his success in the online world and later gave us all The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck. Tune in now for this inspiring, no BS conversation with Mark Manson. In the news… Entrepreneurship can be more than a marathon. It’s a decathlon. Knowing when to quit or persist can be an art. After 300 investor rejections and 1 failed startup, Henry Ward is an entrepreneur who knows this all too well, but still came out the other side alive and built a $1 billion dollar business (Forbes).
